Insert foot in mouth.
I blogged on Friday night bragging about what a good little saver my Roundabout is. She proved me wrong. As Road Sign rules would have it, Saturday was the first Saturday of the month: Allowance Pay-Out Day. It's the perfect payday because it's the day before the first Sunday of the month: Tithing Day!
Roundabout's been anticipating her second allowance payment for a couple of weeks. She was giddy that with this payment she'd be over half way to her savings goal for her Barbie horse. You see, there is incentive in this house to meet your savings goal. If you meet your goal, the Bank of This Way or That Way offers a 10% bonus upon reaching one's goal. So since Roundabout's goal was $36, she would receive a bonus of $3.60 upon meeting her $36 goal. Sounds good, huh?
Well...a little trip to Walmart ruined the munchkin's savings goal. The money was burning a hole in her pocket! She wanted to take a stroll down Barbie lane to admire the beautiful Barbie horses. They were spectacular. She ooooed and aaaahed over them...until....she found a Barbie car for only $10. Her reasoning: she could spend her
and still have some left over to put toward the horse. I explained that she now would not receive the bonus from her bank and she would have to start over on her new savings goal (which she probably would not reach until around age 6). She has taken excellent care of it and has made sure that all Barbie's are safely buckled in before traveling anywhere in her new beach cruiser. She loves it!
But, I still put my foot in my mouth.

Looks like little Roundabout has been giving you a rum for your money. :)
That is the hard part about giving them some control, sometimes they don't make the choices you's like. But it is better to teach the young and let them learn responsibility!!
She will learn. She is just young and has a short attention span.
