Fish Infatuation.

In college, I learned that as language develops in children, they learn to speak words that interest them or have some meaning to them before speaking other words. Clocks mean nothing to a toddler and thus, "clock" is not their first word.

Mixed in among sporadic a Ma-ma, Da-da, and Bye-bye, we hear the word "fissssshhhhhh". His much anticipated language is finally beginning to develop. I'm working with him one-on-one every day and the mimicking that should have begun months ago is emerging.

Along with "fisssssshhhhh", we've heard Mama, Dada, Bye-bye, Moo, Baa, Dalllll, More, Hoo-hoo, Neigh, Me, Mine, Ball, and Ruff-ruff. Such exciting times!
