Sometimes we pretend we live in Wonkaville...
We're even complete with three (the youngest is still in training) of our very own Oompa Loompas (minus the chubbiness. and the orange skin. and the long, yucky hair. oh, and the green hats. i guess we have our own version of Oompa Loompas!) Today's order of stickiness: caramel apples.

And here we have it folks, don't get too close...a Family Home Evening treat that makes an Oompa Loompa's little heart thump. Sticky caramel apples with every topping that every boy and girl dream of. I'll take mine plain, but those two munchkins can't wait to get their first savory lick (except for the fact that Green Light is slightly worried that this is the same apple from which Snow White took her infamous last bite.)
Crazy caramel apples
1 bag of caramels (40 to 50 pieces)
6 to 7 apples
wooden popsicle sticks
assorted toppings
Unwrap the caramels and place then into a 2 quart microwave safe bowl along with 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave until soft and bubbly. Wash and dry apples and insert a popsicle stick halfway into the core of each apple. Holding the stick, dip apple into the bowl of caramel and swirl to coat evenly. Place apple on wax paper or greased cookie sheet. While caramel is still warm, add toppings, or drizzle with melted chocolate.
